Pool Deck & Covered Porch in Tinicum Township, PA

For this Tinicum Township property we wrapped a new in-ground pool with a wide, slip-resistant composite deck and added a vaulted covered porch for shaded dining. The design creates a continuous outdoor living sequence — from the kitchen door, to the covered porch, to the open pool deck and lounge.

The Challenge

The existing concrete surround was hot underfoot, slippery when wet, and offered no shade. The homeowners wanted a cooler, safer poolside surface plus a covered area to escape the midday sun, all while matching the home's traditional architecture.

Our Solution

We built a multi-zone composite deck using cool-touch, slip-resistant boards rated for wet poolside use, with hidden fasteners for a clean, splinter-free surface. A vaulted covered porch with a tongue-and-groove ceiling, ceiling fan, and recessed lighting extends the season and ties the deck to the house with matching trim and columns.

Have Questions?

Decks & Porches in Tinicum Township, PA.

What is the best decking material around a pool?

Cool-touch, slip-resistant composite decking (such as TimberTech or Trex) is ideal around pools — it stays cooler underfoot than concrete, resists fading and mold, and won't splinter. We pair it with cable or aluminum railing for safety and open sightlines.

Can you build a covered porch onto an existing pool deck?

Yes. We routinely add covered porches and roof structures to new or existing decks. We verify footings, structural loads, and local code with Tinicum Township, then integrate the roofline so it looks original to the home.

How long does a pool deck and porch project take?

Once permits are approved, most pool deck and covered porch builds take 3–6 weeks depending on size, roof framing, and finishes. We give you a clear timeline up front and manage the entire build in-house.
